Evolution of interorbital superconductor to intraorbital spin-density wave in layered ruthenates

چکیده

The ruthenate family of layered perovskites has been a topic intense interest with much work dedicated to understanding the superconducting state single layer, Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. Another longstanding puzzle is lack superconductivity in its sister compound, Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$, which constrains possible mechanisms Here we address microscopic mechanism that unifies and spin-density wave order this materials. Beginning from model Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ featuring intraband pseudospin-singlet originating interorbital spin-triplet pairing via Hund's spin-orbit couplings, addition bilayer coupling staggered rotations oxygen octahedra are investigated. We find alone enhances superconductivity, while destroy leaving paramagnetic metal. magnetic field then shifts van Hove singularities near Fermi level, allowing intraorbital SDW form bilayer. Our theory predicts Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$ without exhibits possibly higher transition temperature.

Superconductor-to-Spin-Density-Wave Transition in Quasi-One-Dimensional Metals with Ising Anisotropy

We study a mechanism for superconductivity in quasi-one-dimensional materials with Ising anisotropy. In an isolated chain Ising anisotropy opens a spin gap; if inter-chain coupling is sufficiently weak, single particle hopping is suppressed and the physics of coupled chains is controlled by a competition between pair hopping and exchange interaction. Spin density wave and triplet superconductiv...

Coexistence of Superconductivity and Spin Density Wave orderings in the organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6

The phase diagram of the organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6 has been revisited using transport measurements with an improved control of the applied pressure. We have found a 0.8 kbar wide pressure domain below the critical point (9.43 kbar, 1.2 K) for the stabilisation of the superconducting ground state featuring a coexistence regime between spin density wave (SDW) and superconductivity (SC). ...

Impurity controlled Superconductivity/Spin Density Wave interplay in the organic superconductor : (TMTSF)_2ClO_4

– The study of the anion ordered (TMTSF )2ClO4(1−x)ReO4x solid solution in the limit of a low ReO− 4 substitution level (0 ≤ x ≤ 17%) has revealed a new and interesting phase diagram. Superconductivity is drastically suppressed as the effect of ReO− 4 non magnetic point defects increases following the digamma behaviour for usual superconductors in the presence of paramagnetic impurities. Then, ...

Spin-density wave near the vortex cores in the high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y.

Competition with magnetism is at the heart of high-temperature superconductivity, most intensely felt near a vortex core. To investigate vortex magnetism we have developed a spatially resolved probe based upon NMR spin-lattice-relaxation spectroscopy. With this approach we have found a spin-density wave associated with the vortex core in Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+y), similar to checkerboard patterns...

Prediction of orbital ordering in single-layered ruthenates.

The key role of the orbital degree of freedom to understanding the magnetic properties of layered ruthenates is discussed based on the 3-orbital Hubbard model coupled to lattice distortions, using numerical and mean-field techniques. In the G-type antiferromagnetic phase of Ca(2)RuO(4), recent x-ray experiments reported 0.5 holes/site in the d(xy) orbital, while d(yz) and d(zx) orbitals contain...
